Story

The way in which the story is produced is a very hard process to pinpoint for it is an ever-changing system, the idea for one story may come from a completely different source to another. For example the inspiration for a number of disney films came from classic fairytales, where as the inspiration for an episode of Family guy would be observations of everyday activities with the intention of creating satirical humor. However for smaller companies producing work for others, the idea often comes from another company or person, naturally it is very unlikely that there knowledge of animation is anywhere near as indepth as that of the animation company, so the story may have to be adjusted appropriately based upon what is viable based on funds, timing etc...One such company is Slurpy studios, on their website they have a graph describing the various processes that go into producing one of their animations, the first stage of which involves client input and research. Whilst research will obviously go on throughout the process, it's important to ensure that the story makes sense and more importantly hasn't been done before. Naturally Motion Graphics is animation without a narrative and whilst it may seem that this stage of the animation can be skipped, it is still vital to plan out your work before hand rather than stumbling blindly through the process with little or no direction.
